TV star Ben Grales says he does this to stay – and teaches the contestants in the reality program to do the same.

Mexican boxer Juan Manuel Marquez practiced this treatment for training on his 2009 battle with Floyd Mayweather Junior (lost).

Former Indian Prime Minister Murrigi Desai claimed that a daily cup of things was a treatment for many diseases and contributed to his longevity.

What treatment these celebrities exercise? Orovagia, also known as urine therapy, is the practice of drinking urine.

Whether your urine, someone else or even obtained from an animal, people have been drinking urination as a medicine for thousands of years. Most claims about urine therapy are based on old tales or texts with no strong scientific evidence to support the benefits of urine therapy.

There is evidence to show that drinking urine has a number of health risks.

In Indian Ayurveda, urine was used to treat asthma, allergies, indigestion, wrinkles, and even cancer. Roman poet Catolos believes that urine helped teeth – perhaps because of the ammonia content.

As a primitive test of diabetes, doctors used to taste urine to check how sweet it is. Now, of course, we have urine test strips to check glucose in the urine.

In 1945, British Natuopath John W. Armstrong published a book entitled “Water of Life: A Thesis on Urine Treatment”. He claimed that drinking the urine of the individual and wiring in the skin can treat major diseases.

Historically, drinking urination may be logical due to the lack of medical alternatives. However, as celebrities appear in the urine above, this practice is still a follow -up today.

There are cases of urine use of home remedies to treat seizures in children in Nigeria. The Chinese urine treatment association claims that drinking and washing with urine can treat constipation and skin sores.

Don’t get lost, don’t want?

Urine is manufactured by the body to get rid of waste. Mostly consists of water (about 95 %) and many waste products, including urea (2 %), which is made by the liver after destroying proteins in the body, and creatinine, which are left of muscle and salt energy processes. If the urine is just a waste, how can it be useful?

The kidneys act as organizers – not only to get rid of any toxins but to remove anything that he does not need. For example, excess vitamins that the body does not need in the urine.

Drinking urine means that these vitamins and minerals are recycled instead of wasting them – this also applies to other hormones, proteins and antibodies that can be found in the urine. However, it is unlikely that the quantities of these substances in a cup of urine are sufficient to be useful and may be more effective vitamin.

Some defenders of the urine treatment believe that it can help prevent allergic reactions and control of autoimmune conditions. The antibodies in the urine are supposed to make the immune system stronger.

Other modern uses also include disinfection and toxins – some people claimed that drinking recycled urine constantly leads to urine and cleansing blood by removing toxins and leading to better health in general.

However, there is no scientific evidence to support any of these claims.

Some influencers of social media claim that urine has healing and drinking properties, or applying them to the skin, can help in skin diseases such as acne and infections. As we mentioned, urine does not contain urea, which is often added to skin care products as a moisturizer. But it is unlikely that urea concentration in the urine is high enough to have this effect.

Urine also contains Dehydroepiandrosterone, a steroid hormone that results from the body decreases with age, which has been marketed as an anti-aging component-but there is not enough data to prove its effectiveness.

Risk works

Some defenders of urine think that urine is sterile. However, research has found that urine naturally contains low levels of bacteria and research shows that bacteria can pollute urine when leaving the body. Drinking urine, then, can insert bacteria and toxins into the intestine and may cause more disease such as stomach infections.

Urine becomes more focused when it comes out again – the kidneys may have to work more seriously to filter the excess, and put additional pressure on it. The kidneys need water to treat these salts.

Drinking urine means that you should urinate with water more than you get, which speeds up drying out – it is like drinking sea water. Some medications, such as antibiotics for penicillin or heart medications, are also secreted in urine – by drinking urine, can cause toxic levels of these medications to accumulate in the body.

The main medical societies do not support the treatment of urine because they lack scientific evidence. It is unlikely that small amounts of diuretics are harmful. But for concrete health benefits, other treatments with scientific evidence may be the way to go.Your Pee Isn’t a Health Tonic, No Matter What Ancient Wisdom Claims : ScienceAlert
