Mental health group set up to support Isle of Man farmers

Sam Morry said that the group will provide anyone who is struggling in a secret conversation with the initial standards of mental health who have a background in this industry.

“We do not want people to find themselves in a crisis, we want to provide support before they reach this point,” she said.

The group was launched to coincide with the annual Head campaign for Yellow Wellies Charity, which encourages more open conversations on mental health in this sector.

Six members of the Federation from all over the island received exercises on first aid for mental health with the listening of Manax charitable.

Mrs. Comic said that the farmers have worked “long hours, often they are alone” and they face “increased financial pressure and have more paperwork than ever.”

“Although many of them are still hidden and are not talked about, additional support is needed,” she said.

She added that the group was created by the union, but it was “separate” and “everything that was discussed is confidential.”

“Even Burley’s farmers who believe they could take in the global struggle” were themselves “quietly struggling.”

He said that those who received the training “survived the storms and saw the challenges directly.”

“We can understand the pressure and try to direct you in the right direction to help,” he added.
