Darts star visits Men’s Shed Govan to promote men’s health

The call was delivered during the visit of Govan Shed Shed in Glasgow, before visiting the Premier League to the city that will be held at the evening of Ovo Hydro today (February 13).

Tens of thousands of men in NHS GRATER GLASGOW and Clyde (NHSGGC) delay the search for medical care until it becomes urgent.

This is often due to the lack of knowledge where you go or feel embarrassed to communicate.

NHSGGC numbers also reveal that men are almost 15 percent more likely to attend A& E as the first port of calls instead of reaching appropriate care in the right place.

“Men’s sheds can really help you feel that they are part of society, and this in itself is really important.

“If this can help improve their lives as a result, this is more valuable.”

Mr. Poning had previously talked about his mental health struggles and how almost resigned from arrows.

Since seeking help, he reached the highest classification ever in PDC in the fifth world, won the 2024 Master event, and returned to the Premier League for the first time in a decade.

He said: “For a long time, I was hesitant to do anything about my mental health, but since I took the first step to get my life better and I was able to circumvent my career.

“Now, I’m in a great place and I have all the support I need – and I will encourage anyone to get help if they need it.”

“Everything started when I noticed that I needed to urinate more often than usual, and when I needed to go, it was completely urgent,” said Martin Hado, the head of the men’s shed and a survivor of prostate cancer.

“I am also testing a slight weight loss and some other things related to prostate cancer, so instead of leaving it, I asked for immediate help from my doctor.

“I was referred to the urology department at the royal clinic clinic, where I did – tests, blood tests, etc.

“When the results returned, I was told I was cancer, and that was aggressive.

“Don’t put it because you never know when it will be too late. Your health cannot wait. It is simple like that.”

“The shed of men in Joff is a truly important resource for men to receive support and encourage issues that affect their health and welfare,” said Scott Davidson, NHSGGC Medical Director, said.

“Easily accessible facilities like a male shed are also important in treating isolation and loneliness and providing a sense of belonging within societies.”
