Mental health facility Cape Code to close
In January, the governor of the state, Mora Haley, provided her financial budget 2026, which revealed budget discounts to the Ministry of Mental Health. This includes the closure of the Bokassite Mental Health Center.
Budget closing operations and budget restrictions “will put more people in emergency rooms, police or prisons.”
Senator Dylan Fernandez told the center that the center is funded during the fiscal year and there will be no immediate closure. Meanwhile, Fernandez said he is working to adjust a budget that can keep the center open.
