A new research from SPROUT.AI highlights long waiting times for health insurance demands and influence the UK consumers

Long delay in health insurance claims affects serious losses on consumers in the United Kingdom, where many suffer from tension and nights without sleep, and in some cases, they avoid medical treatment completely.

A new report issued by the automation of smart claims, which 2000 of the British, entered the size of the problem and how the treatment of the claims driven by artificial intelligence can provide a solution.

The main results of the report:

  • 32 % of the British have waited more than a month in order to treat the health insurance claim; It faced 24 % delay for more than six months.
  • 8 % wait for more than a year until their demand is resolved.
  • 23 % say they have lost an anxious sleep about delaying or rejecting the claim, as it rose to nearly half (47 %) of the ages of 25 and 34 years.
  • Almost one in five (18 %) have been late or avoided medical treatment due to concerns about coverage, delay or refusal to claim.
  • 17 % worry that the long waiting period for claiming claims can make her healthy condition worse.

“The long delay in health insurance claims does not only create a disturbance-they can have severe consequences for people’s welfare. This research sheds light on the amount of what can be taken by the slow emotional claims of individuals, especially those with younger documents.”

With the absorption of private health insurance at its highest levels since 2008, pressure on insurance companies to accelerate the treatment processing is escalating. However, the research indicates a possible solution: automation.

The role of artificial intelligence in treating claims:

  • 59 % of consumers say they will be open to the claim of artificial intelligence if it means faster and more accurate decisions.
  • 65 % of children between the ages of 18 and 24 support the treatment of claims driven by artificial intelligence.
  • 46 % will feel more comfortable with Amnesty International, to treat their claims, especially given the sensitive nature of health information.
  • Nearly half (46 %) will consider replacing insurance companies if they suffer from a long claim delay; 16 % will completely cancel its coverage.
  • 16 % said they would leave their insurance company a bad online review if they face long delays.

Amir says that the delay in the claim represents an issue at the level of industry: “The health insurance industry in the United Kingdom is growing rapidly, but this comes with real challenges about customer expectations for speed and accuracy. Our research shows that long waiting times are not only frustrated-they can cause real pressure and even affect people’s health.

“We have seen directly how artificial intelligence can help in treating insurance companies in the demands of insurance companies faster and more fairly, which reduces delay and improving the results of customers. The results indicate that instead of fear of automation, many people may embrace them if this means obtaining claims more quickly and more problems.”

Although some insurance companies are slow to embrace automation, the research indicates that consumers are increasingly open to change. With the belief of more than half (59 %) of the belief of artificial intelligence, human bias can remove the claim decisions, the report highlights a shift in public perception towards automation to treat health insurance claims.
